This map is a representation of the movement of the Jewish people throughout the world and throughout time. It begins with God’s call to Abraham to leave his home and travel to Canaan (Israel) and ends in modern times. Abraham’s journey, the first of many of our people, not only chartered a new future for his family, but was also the first step toward building a nation. God’s command was a call to destiny and not merely a call to a destination.
The Jewish people has made these journeys throughout recorded history – sometimes by choice sometimes not. Yet each place we settled has been enriched by the values, commitment, and tradition with which our ancestors lived. Our personal ancestors, like Abraham and Sarah, often did not know where the journey would lead them but “Go Forth” they did, adapting to different societies while leaving a legacy of values and accomplishments across the globe.
